TriCare mandatory for all ACTIVE duty beyond 30 days
It is mandatory for ALL personnel on extended active duty for more than 30 days to enroll in Tricare. If personnel will be deployed to an active duty station then they must go to the Tricare Service Center on the active duty base and enroll in Tricare. If remaining at home station then they must enroll in TRICARE PRIME REMOTE. That can be done at the following websites www.tricare.mil or www.hnfs.net.
Once on the website the service members must go to the drop down and find a Network Provider within a 30 minute drive of their zip code, after they find a provider they must complete the application for TRICARE PRIME REMOTE. The form can be faxed to 1-888-299-4114.
Again enrollment in Tricare Prime Remote is mandatory for the service member on extended active duty for more than 30 days. Enrollment in Tricare Prime Remote is optional for family members. Family members are automatically enrolled in Tricare Standard.
If service members or family members are enrolled in Tricare Prime Remote they must also pick a Primary Care Manager from the website.
After enrollment in Tricare Prime Remote they must see the Primary Care Manager for all medical care. If a Specialist is required then the Primary Care Manager MUST get prior approval for all care that cannot be provided by the Primary Care Manager.
